Deluxe Edition of Queen's Live at Wembley Stadium Video Getting U.S. Release in March
Eagle Rock EntertainmentThe deluxe edition of Queen's Live at Wembley Stadium concert film will be released in the U.S. on March 12 as a two-DVD set and a digital download. The double-disc package boasts footage of two entire historic shows that the band played at the famous London venue, on June 11-12, 1986.
The Wembley concerts were among the last Queen ever performed with late frontman Freddie Mercury. Among the many classic tunes the British rockers played at the gigs were "Another One Bites the Dust," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "We Are the Champions." The band also delivered renditions of a number of vintage rock 'n' roll cover tunes, including the Elvis Presley hit "(You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care," Ricky Nelson's "Hello Mary Lou (Goodbye Heart)" and Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti."
Live at Wembley Stadium also offers some bonus material, including archival rehearsal footage of Queen; The Magic Tour, a 12-minute documentary about the group's 1986 trek featuring a 2011 interview with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor; and The Wembley Weekend, a 25-minute flick from 2003 that contains May and Taylor's recollections of the two Wembley gigs.
"The Wembley concerts in 1986 were the pinnacle for us," says May. "We were at our height band-wise, and Freddie had developed this phenomenal way of dealing with stadium audiences. Being back home in London playing two sellout nights was such a big, big occasion for us. None of us realized that this would be almost the last time we played together."
