Bohemian Rhapsody: 40th Anniversary - 1975 - 2015
40th Anniversary of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ - 31st October 2015
This weekend marks the 40th Anniversary of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. With over 6.5 million copies sold worldwide to date, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is one of the world’s most well known and well loved songs. Earlier this month Queen were presented with the Classic Single Award at The Q Awards
To mark the anniversary, this weekend kicks off a month of celebrations and unique opportunities for fans to get involved all over the world.
This morning Roger Taylor joined Chris Evans on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show and Shaun Keaveny on the BBC 6 Music Breakfast Show (Catch up on iPlayer @ www.bbc.co.uk/radio). Bohemian Rhapsody was then played out across all major radio stations in the UK to celebrate this incredible record.
Tonight also sees the Official Queen Tribute Band the Queen Extravaganza kick off their 40th Anniversary 'A Night At The Opera' 17 date UK Tour.
Looking further ahead to next month there will also be a Radio 2 ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ feature and a brand new BBC 2 documentary. Plus look out for a very special announcement of a huge celebrity collaboration with Queen for Children In Need.
Also marking the occasion for the first time ever, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ will be released on 12 inch black vinyl with the original B-side ‘I’m In Love With My Car’ on 27th November, 2015.
Alongside this, Queen, A Night At The Odeon, Live At Hammersmith ’75, is set for release on CD, DVD & Blu-Ray on November 20th. This show was a culmination of the 26-date ‘Queen Invite You To A Night At The Opera’ UK tour and the first tour that they had ever performed Bohemian Rhapsody on.
